Regular Town Board Meeting – Monday, June 9, 2008 – 7:30 pm – Linn Town Hall

Chairman Bollweg called the meeting to order at 7:30 pm. Present at roll call were Chairman Bollweg, Supervisors Weiss, Palmer, Allis, Holden, Clerk Polyock, Atty. Schiltz. There were about seventeen (17) citizens present.

Palmer/Weiss motion to approve the minutes as distributed. Carried without negative vote.

Weiss/Palmer motion to pay the bills as presented. Carried without negative vote.

Comments from the public: Randy Hawkins, Walworth County Supervisor, introduced himself and gave his phone # for those with concerns. He was asking for feedback on County funding of economic development. He hopes to have some listening sessions in September.

Plan Commission: Chairman Bollweg reported that Mr. Grunow’s request for a conditional use to construct a windmill on lands zoned B-5 was denied by the Plan Commission. Bollweg/Allis motion to send a letter to Walworth County (or Fontana ETZ) stating that the Town has no recommendation on the conditional use for the William C. Grunow, Jr. Trustee.

Supervisor Weiss reported that the re-zone with conditional use and lot line adjustment request by S. Terry Woods, LTD was approved by the Plan Commission. This is a part of the ongoing project dealing with the proposed creamery. Weiss/Holden motion to approve the re-zone, conditional use and lot line adjustment as recommended by the Plan Commission. Carried without negative vote.

Supervisor Weiss reported that R. Joe Peabody is selling the land to Clarence Trust and this will put it all in one large piece. The Plan Commission approved the CSM. Weiss/Allis motion to approve the CSM request of Clarence 2006 Trust as recommended by the Plan Commission. Carried without negative vote.

Chairman Bollweg then went out of order to approve the pier permit for Carol Bernick. Holden/Allis motion to approve the pier permit of Carol Bernick parcel # IL 100006F1. Carried without negative vote.

Protective Services: The committee had met and recommends approval of the following:

Weiss/Palmer motion to approve hosting a Pre-trauma Life Support Class at the Linn Fire/EMS station. Carried without negative vote.

Palmer/Allis motion to approve preparing specs for a truck to replace 3361 (dive truck) and 3360 (equipment truck). Carried without negative vote.

For information only EMS is changing there medical direction from Aurora to Mercy. This will not change any service that is provided.

Weiss/Palmer motion to give permission to exceed $500 from donated funds account for 2008 Pig & Corn Roast. Carried without negative vote.

Holden/Palmer motion to exceed $500 from donated funds account to update plaques for Fire/EMS. Carried without negative vote.

Chairman Bollweg stated that he and Supervisor Palmer would attend the Ad-Hoc committee meeting with Fontana and Walworth to gather information.

Highway Committee: no meeting

Harbor Commission: launches going well

Buildings & Grounds: Supervisor Holden stated his committee met on June 6 th and opened the bids that were submitted. Holden/Palmer motion to approve the bid from GTL Construction to repair and reinforce the Town Hall stairs for $570 subject to discussion with the Building Inspector. Carried without negative vote.

Holden/Palmer motion to accept bid from Adams Electric for the Fire/EMS storage building with a $340 additional charge for exit lights bringing the bid to $5,408. Carried without negative vote.

Holden/Weiss motion to accept the bid from Roof Doctors of $5,300 for the sand/salt shed roof project. Carried without negative vote.

Public Parks: Supervisor Palmer stated his committee met. They are working on signage at the park, repairing the ruts and holes in the walking trails and looking at future projects. Palmer/Holden motion to accept the proposal submitted by Blackstone Landscape, Inc for new flower beds by the silo’s. One-half of the project will be paid for with the donation from the Lake Geneva Garden Club. Carried without negative vote.

Geneva Lake Environmental Agency – no report

Lake Use Committee – no report

Holden/Weiss motion to approve the liquor license’s as presented. Carried without negative vote.

Holden/Palmer motion to waive the first reading and adopt the Town of Linn Code of General Ordinances. Carried without negative vote.

Weiss/Allis motion to adjourn. Meeting adjourned at 7:53 pm.
